Where's the pass rush?
October 12, 2008
Once again, we have been unable to put any serious pressure on the opposing QB. Without an effective pass rush, eventually someone will always get open. In our 3 wins we had:
Kansas City - 4 sacks, 1 interception and gave up 206 yards passing Jets - 2 sacks, 1 interception and gave up 181 yards passing San Francisco - 1 sack, 3 interceptions and gave up 130 yards passing
In our 2 losses we had:
Miami - 0 sacks, 0 interceptions and gave up 245 yards passing San Diego - 0 sacks, 0 interceptions and gave up 306 yards passing
We need to find a way to have a more effective pass rush or it's going to be a very long season.
And why when we need 1 or 2 yards do we insist on a tight formation and rush up the middle. 4th and goal - how about sending out 3 receivers wide to spread out the defensive line and then run the ball. Or put a tight end in motion and try running outside instead of straight into 11 defenders.
I hope we can play better this.
