Where's the pass rush?

jpuffer wrote this 2 months ago on |
| Once again, we have been unable to put any serious pressure on the opposing QB. Without an effective pass rush, eventually someone will always get open. In our 3 wins we had:Kansas City - 4 sacks, 1 interception and gave up 206 yards passing Jets - 2 sacks, 1 interception and gave up 181 yards passing San Francisco - 1 sack, 3 interceptions and gave up 130 yards passingIn our 2 losses we had:Miami - 0 sacks, 0 interceptions and gave up 245 yards...

Week 3 - Pats vs Dolphins

| I think this will be a good week for the team to see what kind of rhythm that Matt and the receivers can establish. Miami has had 2 sacks in each of the first two games and has given up not only lots of yards, but also lots of big plays. Welker should have another good game. Gaffney should be able to be more involved this week. I think Moss will be able to get open at least once - I just hope Cassel can get him the ball when he does get open.Pennington may be an accurate passer,...

Week 2 - Pats at Jets

| Let's look back to 2001 when Tom became the starter under similar circumstances. His first game as a starter he was 13 of 23 for 168 yards. His second start he was 12 of 24 for 86 yards. Even though we have better receivers this year, don't expect Cassel to attempt 40 passes today. The passes he does throw will probably be short - quick slants to Welker and screen passes to Faulk and Maroney.Establishing the running game could be difficult. Not only have Jets improved their...

| It's not time to panic. The defense we've seen in the preseason was as simple as it gets. It was more to see who was good at the fundamentals. The fact that they cut CBs Fernando Bryant and Jason Webster isn't necessarily a bad thing. Does anyone remember Dwayne Starks? One of worst free agent acquisitions I can remember and we still went 10-6 that year. I wish we had cut him.Let's look back to the 2004 season. Who did we have playing in the secondary that year? Earthwind Moreland...

Why I don't want Brady to play this week
|
|
jpuffer wrote this 4 months ago on |
| The offensive line is still too banged and not currently doing a very good job protecting the quarterback. Even if Tom's foot is fine, I don't want him out there getting chased out of the pocket and hit in a meaningless game. I think the walking boot in the locker was there to mess with the press. If he really needs a walking boot, I'm sure they would hide it away and have him put it on as he's going out the back entrance. The first we heard of the walking boot last year was when...

Some stats are misleading

| The latest craze of the 'Patriots can't stop the run' is just plain silly. The experts talk about how Pittsburgh ran for 181 against us. What they fail to mention is that 74 of those yards came in the last 18:49 of the game when Pittsburgh was trailing by at least 18 points. I'm sure the Patriots were thrilled that the Steelers were running the ball at that point.30 of the remaining 107 yards came on 1 play. 1 long run isn't reason to panic. Yes, we probably could have done better...

| The only teams that Baltimore held to under 20 points were the Jets (13), the 49ers (7), the Rams (3) and the Bills (19). Not exactly high scoring offenses. The other 8 games they gave up an average of over 25 points per game. Against the pass, they are second in number of 40+ yard completions allowed and tied for 9th for 20+ yard completions. They are tied for 18th in interceptions. Look for Brady and his receivers to have a good night tonight.Offensively, they...
